Once dry, your creations are basically hard paper sculptures -- so try using the Caran D'Ache Neocolor II watercolor crayons to draw and then color in your design -- using a dry Neocolor II crayon -- and then use a wet brush to turn the crayon marks into smoothed watercolor. As you brush, the surface of the air-dried clay becomes wet again, and the surface paper pulp mixes with your color so the color actually becomes part of the surface of your sculpture when it dries. You can add more color, make little changes or additions, or add a whole new layer of color to mix and blend into your sculpture! On the white clay, this adds a milkiness to the colors you select, while on the terra cotta clay, you have to keep color theory in mind -- the red and warm tones mix really well, and other colors take closer attention for compatability.
