********** Wick Length and Maintenance The most important factor with a Beeswax Candle is to keep the wick trimmed between 3/16" (5 mm) to 3/8" (9 mm). If the wick gets longer than 1/2 inch, your candle will be burning with a very large flame which will melt a wider ‘pool’ in a very short time. You then have a 1/2 inch wick that proceeds to melt and burn up your tealight/votive wax even faster. To achieve the longest burn time, burn your candle for 1/2 - 1 hour at a time -- allowing it to cool completely between burnings Before relighting, trim your wick back to the 5mm suggested length. ******* LEFTOVER WAX CAN BE "RECYCLED"!!!! Once your candle has burned completely, you may find traces of wax remain in the bottom of the cup or candle holder. No matter how large or small these leftovers are, use your fingertips (on warm or cool wax only!) to form buttons of wax that can be "fed" into a burning candle (CAREFULLY!) to keep it alive longer. CAUTION!!! BEESWAX BURNS AT A HIGHER TEMPERATURE THAN OTHER CANDLE INGREDIENTS -- THE LIQUID WAX WILL BE VERRRRRRY HOT! |
